PROGRAMME LEARNING OUTCOMES (PLO)
Upon completion of this programme graduates will be able to:
- apply knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering fundamentals to well defined marine engineering procedures and practices
- analyze, investigate and well defined marine engineering related problems
- apply creative and critical thinking in solving problem related to assigned tasks
- demonstrate practical skills which include the ability to troubleshoot, repair and do maintenance work for marine engineering equipment and system effectively
- demonstrate awareness and consideration for society, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities, taking into account the need for sustainable development (SOLAS, MARPOL)
- communicate effectively with the engineering community and the society at large
- function individually or in teams, effectively, with a capability to be a leader
- demonstrate an understanding of professional ethics, responsibilities and norms of marine engineering practices (STCW, ISM Code)
- recognise the need for entrepreneurship
- demonstrate an understanding of the impact of engineering practices, taking into account the needs for sustainable development
- recognise the need for professional development and engage in independent acquisition of new knowledge and skill
