PROGRAMME LEARNING OUTCOMES (PLO)

Upon completion of this programme graduates will be able to:

  1. apply knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering fundamentals to well defined marine engineering procedures and practices
  2. analyze, investigate and well defined marine engineering related problems
  3. apply creative and critical thinking in solving problem related to assigned tasks
  4. demonstrate practical skills which include the ability to troubleshoot, repair and do maintenance work for marine engineering equipment and system effectively
  5. demonstrate awareness and consideration for society, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities, taking into account the need for sustainable development (SOLAS, MARPOL)
  6. communicate effectively with the engineering community and the society at large
  7. function individually or in teams, effectively, with a capability to be a leader
  8. demonstrate an understanding of professional ethics, responsibilities and norms of marine engineering practices (STCW, ISM Code)
  9. recognise the need for entrepreneurship
  10. demonstrate an understanding of the impact of engineering practices, taking into account the needs for sustainable development
  11. recognise the need for professional development and engage in independent acquisition of new knowledge and skill
